Your Guide to Eye Surgery at Ahnsungming Plastic Surgery

Before Your Surgery

Important Medication Guidelines
– Please stop taking the following medications 1-2 weeks before and after surgery:
– Aspirin and aspirin-containing pain relievers
– Cold medicines
– Birth control pills
– Hormone medications
– Herbal medicines and red ginseng
– Vitamins, omega-3, and other supplements

Medications You Can Continue
– Blood pressure medications
– Diabetes medications
– For all other medications, please consult our medical team

Managing Your Blood Pressure
Your blood pressure must be well-controlled before surgery to prevent complications. If you:
– Take blood pressure medication: Please continue taking it as prescribed
– Have high blood pressure but aren’t on medication: We’ll need to postpone surgery until you’ve been on prescribed medication for at least 2 weeks
– Are unsure about your blood pressure: We’ll check it during your consultation

Pre-Surgery Health Check
– Tell us if you:
– Bruise easily
– Have bleeding problems
– Have any current medical conditions
– Take any medications regularly

24 Hours Before Surgery
– No smoking
– No alcohol
– No caffeine (including coffee) on the morning of surgery
– Remove all nail polish
– Only use basic skincare products
– Remove contact lenses
– Remove all jewelry

What to Wear on Surgery Day
– Comfortable clothing without metal buckles or zippers
– Bring sunglasses
– Bring a hat
– No contact lenses

After Your Surgery

Preventing Complications
– Sleep with your head elevated
– Avoid lying on one side
– Don’t bend forward
– Avoid straining your eyes

Recovery Timeline
First Week:
– Use cold compresses to reduce swelling
– Take all prescribed medications as directed
– Be extra gentle when washing your face
– No makeup

First Month:
– Only basic skincare products (avoiding surgical areas)
– No color makeup
– Light walking is okay

First Two Months:
– No strenuous exercise
– Avoid activities with sudden movements
– Continue regular follow-up appointments

Warning Signs
Contact us immediately if you experience:
– Unusual pain
– Excessive swelling
– Bleeding
– Vision changes
– Any concerns about your recovery

Follow-Up Care
We’ll schedule regular check-ups to monitor your healing process. Your first follow-up appointment will typically be within a week after surgery.
